Permanently delete the account

1. Open a SmartAINewTab new tab.
2. Go to “Settings → Account and cloud sync.”
3. Confirm that the displayed Google account is the one you want to delete.
4. Select “Delete cloud account.”
5. Review the impact, then select “Confirm account deletion.”

To prevent abuse of long-lived sessions, permanent deletion requires sign-in with the same Google account within the previous ten minutes. If reauthentication is required, sign out, sign in again immediately, and repeat the deletion. The signed-in session calls the backend directly. Support staff never need your Google password, recovery password, or backup contents.

Data that is deleted

• The stable Google account identifier, email address, display name, and avatar URL in D1.
• All sign-in sessions, OAuth flow records, and backup metadata.
• All end-to-end encrypted backup objects for the account in the dedicated private R2 VAULTS bucket.
• The SmartAINewTab cloud sign-in state in the current browser.

Data that is not deleted

• Native Chrome bookmarks.
• Local layouts, tags, settings, and recovery snapshots in the current browser.
• JSON backups already downloaded to the user’s computer.
• The Google account itself or any selected AI Provider account.

Delete only the cloud backup

To keep the SmartAINewTab cloud account, select “Delete cloud backup” on the same page and confirm twice. This removes R2 ciphertext and D1 backup revision metadata while retaining Google account details and the signed-in session.

Completion time and residual copies

Deletion intent is persisted first, then account and backup metadata are removed from active D1 application tables. R2 ciphertext is deleted immediately when R2 is available. If R2 is temporarily unavailable, an irreversible background task retries every ten minutes until removal succeeds, and new backup writes remain blocked during deletion. Cloudflare D1 Time Travel disaster-recovery copies may remain for up to seven or 30 days by plan. The extension cannot read those copies, and they age out at the end of the platform retention period. Workers error logs are retained for no more than seven days and do not record request bodies, bookmark content, email addresses, Tokens, or recovery passwords.
