Terms of Use
Terms of Use
These terms explain what SmartAINewTab provides, what users are responsible for, and where third-party services begin.
Effective / updated: August 8, 2026Acceptance and scope
By installing or using SmartAINewTab, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not enable cloud sync or AI features, and uninstall the extension at any time.
Product purpose
SmartAINewTab helps users search, organize, maintain, and back up their own Chrome bookmarks. Categories, groups, and ordering are primarily stored in the extension’s sidecar data. Native Chrome bookmarks are modified or deleted only by clearly labeled actions that the user confirms.
User accounts and security
Cloud backup requires Google sign-in. You are responsible for protecting your Chrome device, Google account, Provider API Key, sessions, and recovery password. The recovery password is not uploaded; if it is lost, the server cannot decrypt or reset an existing backup.
AI Providers and third-party services
AI features use a BYOK model: you select the Provider, model, and API Key and are also bound by that Provider’s terms, pricing, and data policies. Google, Cloudflare, bookmarked sites, and widget data sources have their own terms. SmartAINewTab does not guarantee that a third-party service will remain available, accurate, or free.
User responsibilities and prohibited conduct
- Process only data you have the right to access, organize, or back up.
- Review AI suggestions, bulk-repair previews, and deletion previews before confirming.
- Do not use the service to attack systems, bypass permissions, distribute malicious content, or violate applicable law.
- Do not submit API Keys, recovery passwords, session tokens, or unnecessary sensitive information through public support channels.
Availability, backups, and limitations
SmartAINewTab aims to provide reliable and reversible features, but the software is provided as is. Browser updates, third-party APIs, networks, quotas, or user configuration may cause interruptions. Important bookmarks should also be protected through Chrome Sync or a user-verified offline export. Cloud backup should not be treated as the only copy.
Suspension, termination, and deletion
You may sign out, delete a cloud backup, delete the cloud account, or uninstall the extension at any time. Serious abuse, security risk, or legal requirements may result in service restrictions. See Account deletion and the Privacy Policy for deletion steps and retention boundaries.
Changes and support
Material changes update the effective date and will be announced where appropriate. Continued use after a change means acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree, stop using the service and delete the account. Help is available on the Support page.
